THE FIVE V’s ON A BUYERS HIT LIST FOR SS’16
Tags Buying, Appointments, Showroom, Fashion, Fashion Week, Vita Kin, Veronique Braquinho, Vanessa Seward, Vetements, Vilshenko
A sales strategy that seems to be working for smaller labels; doing one thing and doing it incredibly well.
THE GYPSEY: Vita Kin, Ukraine
Designer Vita Kin plays on the current 70’s trend with a gypsy game that has the fashion set in a spin. Kin’s inspiration heralds from Ukranian traditional clothing vyshyvanka, which celebrates rich folkloric prints and intricate embroidery.
THE ROMANTIC: Veronique Braquinho, Belgium
This successful Belgian designer launched her eponymous label in the fall of 1997 and continues to dive under the radar of mainstream fashion press. The label is shrouded with an aura of mystery with romanticism heavily embedded in it’s DNA.
THE CLASSIC: Vanessa Seward, Paris
Having designed for Chanel, Azzaro and, most recently, A.P.C. Atelier de Production et de Création Seward’s eponymous line is centered around pared-down, feminine basics. Her blouses, jeans and trenches all have an insouciant cool sensibility that has long permeated her designs.
THE STREET-SMART: Vetements, Paris
A collaborative design group made up of Maison Margiela alumni who are intent on playing with construction and proportion. The collections result in items which can compliment outfit dramatically or stand by themselves by equal measure.
THE FREE-SPIRIT: Vilshenko, Russia
Glamorous, folkloric and eye-catching, Russian fashion designer Olga Vilshenko’s collections are inspired by traditional bucolic-printed fabrics. With studios in both Moscow and London, the line has both modern and old world appeal.
